It's hard to find a fantasy book I like that is laced with enough romance to keep things interesting. The strong female lead was kick-butt and amazing. The plot was very interesting, there was good character development, and good world building. if the author makes a series of books with the different characters and kingdoms I'll buy them all!! Highly recommend this book!

P.S. The romance in this book plays an important role in the plot, but it is not the main focus of the story. So if you're looking for a fantasy romance this book is gold, if you are looking for steamy erotica this isn't it.

Freaking amazing! I haven't read a fantasy in awhile, but I'm so glad I found this author. What a story my feels are all over the place, thank goodness the next book is out I gotta find out what happens to everyone. Wow just wow!!!
I wasn't expecting to like this book. I'm immensely shocked how much I did. The story was beautifully written. I fell in love with the characters created in this book. It's a must read!!
This is a very good start to a series. The characters are well written. They are prone that you can identify with. Though the mother was standoffish, she made the ultimate sacrifice for her daughter. Can't wait for book 2.
I read a lot of books - I mean a lot - and this is far and away my favorite book I've read in months. The MC Amelie was so much fun to read, I couldn't turn pages fast enough to find out what she was going to do next. Her relationship with the prince had me grinning and sighing. They're romance progressed so naturally and perfectly. So many authors bunk up the pacing there, but Ms Coe executed it wonderfully. Also, the character motivations and reasonings were spot on. Everyone had convictions or flaws that reflected in every choice they made, even the choices I didn't want them to make. Buy this book. You won't regret it.
This book was such a great surprise. I read another book by this author, which was a contemporary romance. Enjoyed that so sought out other books and found this one which is a fantasy with elements of romance.

The story and world building was really interesting and I was pulled into the story right away. The main character Amelie, is a princess with a secret talent, who also serves as a spy to protect her kingdom. She is smart, capable and loyal and has snuck into a neighboring kingdom to track down an enemy. While Amelie is quite successful as a spy, she leads a somewhat isolated life due to her talent, which sometimes feels like a curse. A recent mission falls off track and that opens up her world immensely. She fights bigger challenges, makes new allies, and learns about herself. Lastly, she meets someone who ends her feelings of isolation and loneliness.

This book is the first of a series, and it is such a great start. The next book is just as engaging, but I'll discuss that book in a separate review.

A great adventure, with strong, smart heroine that you can't help but root for. I highly recommend this book!

Absolutely a must read, I love the magical aspect of this book and can't wait to read the second part of the series~! Cara Coe is a fantastic author and her writing is amazing! I loved almost the entire cast and hated the villains (as one should). I can't wait to see what happens in the next book!
