The Winter Creek Hunter (The Winter Creek Trilogy Book 2) - edition by CP Bialois, R.J. Keith, Jamie White. Literature & Fiction eBooks @ . Reviews
I enjoyed the first story in this trilogy and decided to take a chance on the second. Though I'm still taken with the isolated, small-town setting and the supernatural vibe, this book didn't grab me like the first.
The characters lack depth. Though likable, they still haven't made me FEEL anything for them. At this point in the trilogy, I should have a favorite character or one I despise ... and I don't.
The author continues to head-hop, as well, which interrupts the flow of the story.
The plot is GOOD. I love the mix of Native American beliefs and Cryptozoic creatures. I just wish the author had taken time to develop the characters more and had given us some background.
Excellent story. The writer has an easy, comfortable style and I was hooked right from the start. Spooky subject matter, right up my alley. Highly recommended.
I love the WinterCreek Books! Author CP Bialois shows his versatility not only in being able to create complex, integral worlds in his epic fantasies. But he also has the skill to weave, heart pounding suspenseful drama in his mysteries! The small town of Winter Creek believes it now can breathe easy after the beast which had terrorized it's citizens had been killed. Jay, the town's every man's Sheriff is the reigning hero, the one, after tapping into his heritage and familial beliefs, found the power to stop the monster and save the town he loves. Jay doesn't want accolades, just peace and quiet, and his old routine.
But another threat arises, and with it a new face enters Wintercreek with his own agenda. Once again Jay must step up to the plate to protect those he loves! New monsters arise which Jay must battle. But Jay is shocked and heart broken when realizing the truest monster wears a familiar face!
Love, Love Loved this one! I was carried on the roller coaster ride with Jay as he attempted to stay one step ahead of the Hunter who'd arrived in his town. I also felt the mind numbing and heart breaking pain when Jay discovers that one of his own was not who they appeared to be!
Answers are given, and some mysteries are solved!
Well written, steady pace which catapulted into intense action scenes and awesome characterizations, create a wonderful reading experience! Author CP Bialois is one of my favorite writers and I always look forward to his books. I highly recommend the Wintercreek books, I can't say enough about this series. Lol the only down side is now I have to wait for the next one!
Recommended for readers who love mystery and suspense or fans of Stephen King's works!
